| A Huge Decision And Current Results (Ruth Marlene Friesen) | |
However, that same evening, a huge thunderstorm rolled in, and the rain and hail pelting on the metal of the quonset made an aweful din. Uncle John tried, but couldn't be heard. He shouted instructions about praying on our own, and just telling Jesus that we were accepting him as our personal Saviour. Then we were dismissed.
My parents showed some fear as the lightening danced all around us, and the car wanted to skid sideways on the muddy road. Prospects of hell came easily to my mind!
That night I dreamed vividly about playing with cousins my age on another farm, when their cottage in the woods caught fire. Of course, I helped to rescue what seemed an unending stream of children, by grabbing them as they were handed to me, and guiding them to safety, away down the path.
Awaking, I knew instantly that fire represents hell. In another moment I knew that I wasn't really fit to rescue others, unless I trusted Christ myself.
The thunderstorm had shown me that opportunity can be gone quite abruptly. I decided to pray and pointedly receive Christ as my own personal Saviour without delay.
To ensure that I would remember this in the morning and that it wouldn't fade as other dreams often did, I got out of bed and knelt on the cold floor for this transaction.
Shyness still delayed me, but Jesus has always been therefor me to talk to and is a most faithful friend. The more I grew to understand the meaning of Bible stories and principles for living, the more I admired him. I had a vision of writing a book about this kind of friendship, but was afraid I'd be talked out of it, so I wrote it in secret.
This relationship became most special though when I moved to a big city in the east in hopes of publishing my first novel, and, (I was convinced) meeting the man of my dreams. Imagine how devastated I was when none of that came to pass.
Countless hours I spent in intimate conversations, and tears, unloading my honest feelings, and begging for miracles. Through all that we drew even closer. I learned to pray, and prayers got answered. I read the Bible and learnt to recognise intuitively when a passage was God's answer to my questions.
Eventually, I even made the hard decision to move back to my parent's home to look after them in their old age. Mom was sicly for many years, and this kept me house-bound in a large sense. However, this worked out for God's better plan for my life, as I was able to devote myself to writing and re-writing that first novel.
In fact, Ruthe's Secret Roses is finally up for sale as an e-book from its own web site! If seein' is believin' for you, go have a look - http://Ruthes-SecretRoses.com/rsr/Intro.html
What's more I am working on a Print-on-Demand contract, and getting ready for a media campaign!
All on a shoestring too short to wrap around my finger of course, but then - my imagination loves challenges. Lack and necessity always makes me more resourceful so I'm not letting poverty stop me now! Nope. Living by faith triggers miracles, and I love watching those.
I'm happy to say that a vivid imagination is not just an amusing toy, but a wonderful gift from God Himself. I've learned to praise and thank Him for it. At this stage I sure like being me.
How perfectly my gifts, my past and my interests have come together on the internet to open wide vistas of opportunity, both for writing and for making friends.
Hey, :) I especially love introducing my friends to one another. Let me invite you to come and meet my very Best Friend.
